What does the cross really mean?

(KJV version)

Copy Panel 1: What does the cross really mean?

Copy Panel 2: The cross means you and I must acknowledge our desperate need for God.. "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit" Psalm 34:18.

The cross means our sin has separated us from God. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

Copy Panel 3: The cross means Christ's death has made it possible for us to be reconnected to God.  "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit."  1 Peter 3:18.

The cross means if we ask forgiveness for our sins and receive Christ into our hearts we will be saved.  "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." Acts 3:19

Copy Panel 4: Prayer to receive Christ:

Father in Heaven, I know that out of love for me, you sent your Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sins.  I repent of my sins and ask for your forgiveness. I now receive Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.  I give my life to you, and I receive your eternal life.  In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your new life in Christ has just begun.  Talk to your pastor.  If you don't have a church, find one.  Read your Bible.  Serve others in Christ's name.
